How to make hair look thinner with a flat iron?

I have thick, wavy, above-the-shoulders hair and I have this product that will make my hair smooth and protect against heat. I tried using a flat iron (very thin one) and my hair came our smooth and straight. However it curled under slightly so now my head looks like a friggin' egg-shape (not my normal head shape). How can I fix this so it just falls straight, like the image here: http://www.originalchi.com/images/straig...

...and not curl under? How can I iron it so it appears flat and thin?

when you get towards the end keep the iron straight/at the same angle that you started from the root, don't turn it just go straight out to the ends.

Use a glossing mist and repeat strokes through your hair

for example flat iron your entire hair then do in again until it is as straight as you want it.

Did you flat iron it out all the way to the end on your hair? If you did, you might need to go back over it again. Since your hair has a natural wave to it, you have it train it to do other things. You might want to try a styling product also to hold it once you've flat ironed it.

It depends on your hair cut. In the picture, it looks like the model's hair was razored.

I have very thick hair too, and always had problems with getting it too cooperate. Good luck! I had to cut mine short and razor the edges for a little relief. (i love it now though! ^.^)

When most people straighten with a flat iron, they naturally, unknowingly turn it under as they pull which gives you the egg shape. You should make sure that you are using a good balm or de-frizzer and DONT use the highest heat. It will help to turn the flat iron out as you get to the bottom of your hair. It is helpful to do it in thin sections. You could also blow-dry it first, then go over your hair with the flar iron. I hope it works because i used to have the same problem. Good luck

I have hair similar to yours. What I do is use a leave in conditioner (NOT ALOT) and then straighten my hair in sections, flip that section over to the other side, and do the sections of hair under it, repeat, so that every section of hair gets perfectly straight. My hair stays straight for however long till the next time I wash it:P

I have the same kind of hair as you do. I blow dry my hair first, it gets huge and frizzy then I go through with a flat iron starting with the underneath and go through each section about 3 times, make sure you just go straight down if you pull towards you or in any direction the bottom will curl in that direction. Also make sure you have a GOOD flat iron, I used to use cheap ones and they didn't work that great, I asked for a CHI for Christmas and it's faster and easier than ever because it gets REALLY super hot. Good luck!

Get a proffesional hair straightner

The ones in the price range of $100.00-$300.00

They work really gud, and I have poofy hair.. that doesn't straighten well with the usual $50.00-$90.00 straightners.

I got one for $240.00

And my hair is just they way I want it. it will be flatter, and healthier (because yuh are useing better quality)

it won't curl under, if yuh dont make the straightner do that direction thing.. like if yuh straighten in flat out like that, it will turn out the way the picture is.

good luucck.

Make sure that you use the flat iron in straight motions, making sure to not curl the ends at all. As long as you take small pieces and pull straight down from the top repeatedly until achieving the straight look you're looking for, it should work fine. It may also be that the straightener is not the best for your fair type. It may be too thin. If it's the chi, you should be fine, that's by far the best straightener out there for all hair types! I would recommend straightening each layer of your hair individually by pulling your hair up and letting each layer down to straighten it until all your layers are straight. It may take some patience, but it will look great when you're done! Good luck! :)

im a pro at fashion ask me questions any time..... anyways about the hair thing, get a hair tie, ok? and put your hair up but leave a little bit down.... flat iron that.. then keep doing that in small layers trust me my hair is like yours it works. then another hairstyle is to crunch curl it... you get out of the shower in the morning and get your towel and wipe it until its wavy. then, get some gel that works good like spike gel at the dollar store.and some more gel.now rub it in your hands, tilt your head to the side and get you hands and grab your hair and crunch it al over like 2 times and vuala! you have cute hair!
