The thickness of your hair is determined by the density of hair follicles over a sample area.
You can only increase the number of hair follicles on your head by surgery such as hair transplants, or the chemicals designed for restoration in people with heriditary baldness.
Do NOT consider either of these, they are usually for people who are bald/going bald/or have follicular problems, not for simply improving hair's appearance.
You CAN however, make your hair APPEAR to be thicker, and make it stronger without actually affecting the number of follicules or the hair's natural growth etc.
There are SOOOO many products to increase volume such as leave in conditioners, shampoos, rinse-out conditioners, mousses, gels, spritzes, etc.
These will help with thickness related problems.
To make your hair stronger, you'll need products with protein in them.
As I said above, shampoos, conditioners, gels, spritzes, mousses, masks, etc, all can have protein in them, just look for a product that says so on the package.
One fairly simple thing to try is blowdrying your hair upside down, and another thing is to get your hair cut in a layered style to simulate a more volumous look. (Ask your hairdresser for this).
One more thing.
Cutting hair does not cause it to grow back thicker, that is a myth.

the best way i found to make my hair look thicker is to have it cut at least once a month because the more times you cut your hair the thicker it will grow back

My mother had the same problem, and she started using these products, 'My Crown and Glory' shampoo and conditioner:

She has noticed a marked difference in the thickness of her hair, and has noticed that she doesn't lose hair anymore. These products are made from natural ingredients, and botanicals, and are suitable for people who are sensitive to perfumes, etc.
I hope this helps . . .

Try Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. But the thing is.... Is your hair fine (small trands) or thin (meaning it's dense...few hairs per square inch). Sometimes , based upon genetics, you might no have a choice but to have thin hair, so you might be able to really thicken as much as you would like to. The only other options is to wear extensions.
