I have fine, thin hair, too. I think I must have tried one hundred different volumizers, they all claim to be great, but most of them are really lacking for those of us that need them the most. I've found two that I like. On the budget minded side, L'Oreal Fructris makes a nice one, Shake Effect Liqui-gel (green, ball shaped bottle). Tigi's Bed Head Superstar blowdrying solution (purple dumbbell shaped bottle) is also quite good, but somewhat more expensive. Both work well and last a long time since you only need to use a small amount.

I apply to towel dried hair, then blow hair dry (upside down) and shape with a round brush. I also use an ion hair dryer, which makes a big difference, too.

If you are using products that are not professional, that is your problem. Try using something like Redkin Weightlifter or Redkin Guts.

Weightlifter provides style retention, body and thickness. It isn't greasy or heavy. All you do is spray it on your roots and blowdry!

Guts is another product you spray on the roots and simply blowdry. You can use this alone or even use before or after the Weightlifter. It provides fullness and helps control style.

Aveda Flax Seed and Aloe. It works wonders on my hair. Another good idea is to dry your hair from the roots. You want to lift up your hair to dry it.
