I'm so depressed about my hair I'm making myself sick!!?

My hair is so thin and baby fine and soft that it won't hold a style, and I have to wash and dry every day just to get it to do anything. All this from a bad permanent straightener back in October and highlights before that. My hair was curly and baby fine and those chemicals melted it and broke a lot of it off so now it was cut short but it seems even thinner now that it's short!! And, after sleeping on it, it's a lost cause without wetting and redrying to shape it. Is there anyone else out there like me or has God just appointed me the lucky one?? I've gotten my thyroid tested, my hormones tested, and have been to a dermatologist, who said just be patient it will grow back and use Rogaine if you want to. I've been to TONS of stylists for opinions and they say to use the curling iron and hairdryer just use a protective spray, until it grows out. I just feel like a space alien. I used to have long fine thin curly hair but it was fluffy, so it looked thick. Now, when I wake up,

girly gir you know you had fine hair before you started to let people mess with your very delicate hair.First be aware

that whatever happened, it will all grow back to what it was

before. As far as shampooing your hair every day, that is a must, fine hair is much fuller when it is washed every day

use a warm, not hot iron, fine hair can't take the heat that thicker hair can.treat your hair with love and care and this will pass.don't fret girl it will all grow back.patience please

it is expensive...but in ur situation..i'd do it...get extensions they're long and thick...whatever u want them to look like is what they look like you could also startt using clipons...which are hair on a clip that u can use in like a ponytail.

you've gone to all these 'specialists' whose livelihood depends on your believing that there's something WRONG with you...that you need to look different than your natural self in order to fit THEIR concept of beauty.

you're worrying about what 'other people' will think of you. if your self-worth is defined by others, you will NEVER know a moment's peace. other people will either tell you what THEY think, or what some other person told THEM to think.

why not allow your own natural, true beauty come thru? not perm'ed or stressed or colored or altered...just you, the way the Good Lord made you. let your fine, beautiful hair come out to reveal what you were made to look like, and just be patient, and someone whose opinion MATTERS, someone who knows true beauty, will come along to appreciate you for what and who you are...instead of using you for their own twisted amusement.

i know it's hard...but those stylists don't give a rat's pa-toot for you honey...they are just twisting you around to make a buck.

As a stylist... there is no way I would be telling you to further complicate your situation my using curling wands and blow dryers. You should not be using any more heat or chemicals. You need to try to improve the condition of your hair with products that will not create further damage. It's not easy because your hair is now thin and brittle... but it can be improved! You should be using spray-on conditioners on top of your normal shampoo and conditioning routine. Use gels or hair pastes that will help your hair look thicker... thickeing gels. Do not use shampoo for fine hair at this point, because it will only tend to "poof" it out more.

Use a gel (without alcohol) and let your hair dry natural... and although it may seem a bit old-school I would do this:

After your shampoo and conditioning I would use a spray-on conditioner, comb it through, use an anti-frizz gel, comb it through evenly (don't use too much), and use curlers (not hot curlers) plastic curlers, the kind Wilma Flintstone wears - ha ha ha! Not to laugh it this... just so you understand you need plain plastic curlers for this - and use a medium-sized to large curler.

This will be some work... yes... but it is pretty much what you will need to do while your hair "recovers".

My last suggestion is to get your hair cut at least a half-inch per month until all of your processed hair is grown out.

Hope this helps!
